Learning english

I really enjoy english, and it's amazing that the faculty has it as a subject. It's actually the one I like the most.

I find learning english is really useful because in this modern times, everything is in that idiom. Even the programs you have to use for the career. It could be any of the ones there are here. In my case it is architecture.

I took English 3 with professor Simon in the first semester I got here. We also had to write blogs and I still find it entertaining. Writing about your experiences and learning about your classmates too.

The classes are really helpful because sometimes I learn new words that I can use when I have to write, read or listen to something.

I read a lot in english in social media. You could think it's not practical, but it really teaches you how to use time expressions properly like an English speaker.

But that's the thing. It doesn't teach you how to 'speak' just by reading. And that is something I think I could improve: the accent. But I use english songs a lot too, and some videos on youtube and series that don't have subtitles, so that helps in some way.

In class some days we have to talk to each other and that helps with the pronunciation too. And honestly, I can't think of anything right now to improve the class, because it is very complete. We see videos of people talking, listenings, the blogs, and some other things.

So that's all I have to say! 馃懡

Fau study program

I'm studying 2nd year of architecture here in Universidad de Chile. The year I got here was just when they changed the carreer's curriculum: from anual to biannual. I consider myself lucky, because previously you had to do a whole year again if you did not pass a subject.

So far I like architecture, I do not plan to leave (yet). Some people tell me that I'm going to end up insane and I'm starting to feel it.

There is this new subject called "transversal" and all I have heard are bad opinions. Even from different types. Sometimes it's a waste of time you could be using for working or leisure time. Maybe there are exceptions though. I took the cinema one because I thought it could be fun, but all they do is watch documentaries and comment photographs. I don't say that documentaries are boring, I like some, but you know, in the moment you think "I could be doing something more productive"

I think that maybe it would be interesting if there could be other idioms for cfg's, like french or even japanese! But maybe not so many peoble would want to join, I don't really know.

Talking about the infrastructure of this faculty... leaves much to be desires. I mean, it floods everytime it rains, and it's ironic since it is the faculty of architecture (and design and geography, but you see the point). I know it was not always that way, but it could be improved!

Time travel

I've said it before, I like living in the present. Enjoying every moment this life gives me. But today I'm going to write about what I would do it I could travel through time.

My father is a big fan of the movie "back to the future". I've watched each at least 2 times. I remember the bad guy figuring out how to become a millionaire by betting money in sports. I would do something like that, but with art! Buying paintings from underrated artist (that are now famous) and selling them in the future. Maybe even keep some for me. I could even have a museum for them.

Then I think to myself "internet didn't exist back then" and think again. I have a problem with social media, I know it.

The past had a lot of interest things, we have a lot to learn from it, but today everyone is focused in the future. We have to be more conscious of our world. I would prefer going to the past so I could prevent so many polluting with today's projects and technology.

So if I went to MY life in past I wouldn't change anything, because everything that has happened to me made me be who I am today, good or bad. And if I went to the future, I wouldn't like everyone to be older or even not in this world anymore, like my family and friends

post 7: my summer plans

Since my birthday I've been saving money to get another tattoo. I got my first one last year because I turned eighteen, and it is a flower with leaves that represents me and my closest ones. Now I want to get more flowers! But I've been thinking...

Maybe I can use that money to go to the beach with friends and/or my boyfriend. I would like to go to any beach near here, because I'm sure we're going to have fun. It doesn't matter if we go to Conc贸n or Vi帽a, Re帽aca or Algarrobo, anywhere is fine.

I would like to go to the beach's craft fairs and buy something cute, drink awesome natural fruit juice and spend nice time under the sun in the sand. I don't know if going to the water is a good idea, because in Chile the ocean is very cold. But if the others do, I'd think about it. If the opportunity comes, maybe we can go to a party or maybe even just us wherever we stay.

When that comes to an end, I would keep resting because that's what vacations are for, not to be thinking about studying. Maybe you could consider working but it's not my case.

If this plans don't result, and I have to stay in Santiago, there would be other activities I or we could do, so I'm not that worried.

post 6: postgraduate studies

To be honest, it's very difficult for me to see myself in the future. I don't think about it often because I like to live my present, and thinking about that makes me anxious. I prefer living in the present as best as you can. But since I have to write about it I feel the need to imagine what I´m going to do after I graduate.

I'm actually an architecture student in FAU. I've enjoyed it and had bad times, but I like it so far.

I have though going abroad. Maybe england or New Zealand, not actually sure where. I wouldn't go to United States because i find it's too common. These countries have a lot of places I want to know, I want to see the world outside Chile.

I have also though about studying with people that have experience in the field. Meeting people and learn interesting new things, not only about my studies but the culture and landscapes, sounds great to have new experiences. So with that in mind, I would consider courses that are part time so I could manage my time the best I can and going to presencial classes. Maybe something related more to design, to express my creativity. This is very important for me, because since I was little I draw and try to improve.

Post 5: my future job

Sincerely I don't see myself working in the near time. I would like to earn my own money rather than asking my parents for it, but I can´t apply for a job because arquitecture takes a lot of my time.

I find it amazing how other students manage to do all things. Do well at uni and working. I wouldn´t be able, so I admite them haha.

My ideal job would be being a singer. But we all know that does not give you a lot of money, here in Chile the industry of music can be very competitive. I'm taking singing classes as a hobby and sometimes I get to perform in pub. It is difficult for me because I am shy but I really like it.

So to be realistic, in the future I see myself to be a interior designer or something like that. I know, you must think like "why don't you study design then" and the answer is that I think arquitecture lets you do a lot more things than design.

About traveling, it would be so cool. Who doesn't like to travel? maybe people that don't like flying, but it's not the case.

I think if I'm lucky, I could be both in the future.

Post 4: My favorite series

I wasn't really a series fan... I always failed to keep up with a story because I got bored of following it. The first series I watched was Pretty Little Liars, but it got so long and too many seasons, it was not interesting anymore. Then I tried with a similar one that was about twins that did not know each other until they got to highschool, and decide to switch lives but everything goes out of control.

This year I tried to give another chance to series. Since I had this problem with getting bored of watching them, some people recommended "Black Mirror" to me because each chapter was about a different story. I did see it, and I was mind blown! There is so much good material in them, there was no way I couldn't keep entertained. It is not necessary to look at them in the chapters order, so I really recommend you take a look at the second episode of the third season called "PLAYTEST"

It is about a guy that runs out of money while traveling, so he looks for a job and finds this interesting offer about trying a new virtual reality game. It is a terror game, and it's configured to read your mind and know your deepest fears. I really got my mind blown plenty of times while watching this, and I'm sure you will too!

Some other series I have watched this year are 13 reasons why, Riverdale, and The Mist (based on a novel by Stephen King), so if you are bored you should give this last one a try. The other two I recommend if you like series that are meant for the young public. They are all on Netflix!

Post 3: Movie

I would like to write about the last movie I saw that really blew my mind, because I don't really have a favorite movie.

It is a Netflix original called "What Happened to Monday?" and it's a futuristic play which talks about how the world is overpopulated and the sistem tries to control it.

I really recommend seeing it, I would try not to make any spoilers because I'm not that kind of person haha. I say that it really got me intriged until the very last second.

Talking about the last movie I saw, it was "The intouchables". I already had seen it but it was worth seeing it again.
It is about a quadriplegic person that needs someone to take care of him, and after many people interviewed that wanted the job, "Driss" comes to him and doesn't even want the job, just a signature so he could prove he was looking for a job. "Phillipe" choosed him because he never felt sorry about huis condition, and he usually forgot about it.
This movie is a must see.

I see movies depending on my mood. Sometimes I like to watch suspense, and others maybe comedy but NEVER movies with a lot of blood in them, like "300". They don't scare me, I'm just disgusted by it.

Post 2

I’m going to start by telling you that my first concert was in 2009 when I went to see Avril Lavigne with two of my friends. It was very nice but we were very far from the stage, and we could only see the bright neon thing she had in her hand. Then in 2011 I went to see Bruno Mars and I had so much fun! I also went with two of my friends. These are the most memorable. Then I got to see One Direction and Katy Perry. But my favorite artist came to Chile last year, Ed Sheeran. I met him because of 1D, because he wrote a really good song for them. He sings mostly pop, but he can also rap. He won a Grammy recently. This was the first time I saw someone that famous so close. First, the concert was going to be in Teatro Caupolican. I was very alert with buying the tickets, I couldn’t miss it! So I got them in a nice place. Then they changed it to Estadio Nacional, because they sold out very fast! When I got there I was nervous because I was going alone (my friend couldn’t buy in the first sell so we were apart). I realized I was a bit far from the stage. But when the concert started, everyone went to the front, so I went too, and got a seat in the front! A nice girl was by my side, we became friends and sang all the songs together. She was from Puerto Montt and really liked Ed so she traveled all the way there to see him! We lost contact but it was really nice not feeling alone, and sharing a special moment like seeing your favorite artist with someone who really likes it too. This is a picture I took, it has no zoom!
